Gadens Intervarsity Women's Mooting Tournament
The tournament will be held between 27th - 30th September. The moot will involve a question of refugee law with the final to take place in Court 1 of the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney, and will be presided over by the Honourable Justice Stone of the Federal Court.
UTS will be sending two teams two the moot, one undergraduate team and one Postgraduate/JD team. Each team may have no more than 1 international mooter (ie: a student who has competed at Jessup, Vis). However, there is no requirement that each team have an international mooter.
The tournament will involve 4 preliminary rounds, where each team will moot each side of a problem question twice. The best 4 teams will break to semi-finals, with the winners of each semi-final to progress to the grand final.
Prizes valued at $500 will be awarded to the winners of the tournament, best speakers in the preliminary rounds and grand final, as well as to the team with the best written memorandum.
The tournament will include welcoming drinks at the offices of our sponsor, Gadens Lawyers, as well as a championship dinner to conclude the tournament.
