The Student Volunteer Committee (SVC) consists of UTS students from any faculty wishing to volunteer their time to assist the UTS LSS in its many activities and events organised throughout the year. This includes competitions as well as various social justice initiatives and social events.
In terms of the Competitions Portfolio, members of the SVC are often called upon to act as witnesses for Witness Examination matches and clients for Client Interview rounds. In the past, students on the SVC have gained insights into the nature of the competitions and the tactics used by teams, and have then been successful as competitors in subsequent semesters. Participation in the Committee is a fantastic way for students to engage outside the classroom in UTS LSS initiatives that are more than just social gatherings.
All work done on the Committee is recognised by the UTS Brennan Justice and Leadership Program and members will also receive a certificate of service at the end of the year. The SVC Operational Guidelines provides further information about how the Committee operates and is available here.
