Mallesons Professional Mentoring Program
In 2012, the UTS Law Students' Society (‘LSS') will be running a Professional Mentoring Program with Mallesons Stephen Jaques (Mallesons).
The Mallesons Professional Mentoring Program will see high-achieving 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students studying a double degree, and 1st or 2nd year JD/straight LLB students who are considering a career in commercial law, partnered with a solicitor from Mallesons. Solicitors will be matched with students on the basis of shared interests and experiences, and will serve as a mentor to the student for the duration of the year.
The mentoring relationship will see the mentor provide friendly guidance and advice to the mentee, so that the mentee can gain first-hand insight into the world of commercial law. The mentor can further serve as a valuable resource in providing interview tips, advice in relation to the mentee's curriculum vitae, and other miscellaneous advice that only a practicing solicitor can provide.
The Program will commence in April with a team-building exercise, at which mentors and mentees can meet and mingle in a fun, informal environment. Mentors and mentees will meet four to six times over the course of the year. The Program will conclude in November with a cocktail function at the offices of Mallesons at which all participants will receive a certificate to recognise their successful completion of the Program.
APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2011 PROGRAM HAVE CLOSED. IF YOU WISH TO APPLY IN FUTURE YEARS, PLEASE WATCH THIS SPACE FOR UPDATES ON APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2012 PROGRAM.
