The UTS LSS is a member of the Australian Law Students’ Association (ALSA), the peak representative for law students in Australia.
Every year in July, ALSA hosts a Conference at which up to 500 law students from Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia converge for a week of legal competitions, educational seminars and opportunities and an array of glamorous social events from pub crawls, to themed parties, to cocktail and black tie dressed affairs. It is one of the largest student conferences in Australia and the only conference of its kind for law students.
The UTS LSS has a proud history of representation at the July ALSA Conference, from successful performances in legal competitions and contribution at ALSA Council meetings to networking at social events. The ALSA Conference is home to the national finals of six legal competitions. Over 350 legal professionals evaluate the performance of our competitors each year ranging from solicitors to Chief Justices.
The UTS LSS selects a delegation, consisting of Councillors, competitors and General Delegates. In lieu of sitting on Council or competing in a legal competition, General Delegates attend and participate in Education, Social Justice, Careers and Social events including opening and closing galas, a cocktail party, and a cruise (optional).
