Thinking of applying for a Summer Clerkship, but don't know where to begin?

Copies of the Clerkship Guide will soon be available outside the LSS office for all UTS law students.

This guide provides students with information on obtaining summer clerkships at some of Australia's leading commercial law firms (such as Freehills, Clayton Utz, Minter Ellison, Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Allens Arthur Robinson and more!)

Next to all firms have a Firm Profile detailing the generalities of what they are about. Several have Practice Group Profiles providing specifics on their different practice group rotations, range of pro bono work and structure of the Clerkship program to give you a better idea of what distinguishes each firm from the other. Many have Summer Clerk or Graduate testimonials from law students who provide some insight into the breadth and depth of opportunities available in this field and how their clerkship or stint as a graduate at the firm panned out.

Each firm has a contact listed and instructions on how/where to send your application.

A summer clerkship can lead to a graduate position in several cases, so you'd be wise to apply if you are at the appropriate stage of your degree.

Remember to apply for a summer clerkship you must have at least TWO but not more than FOUR whole semesters to complete in order to obtain your law degree.

Applications for clerkships open June 30th and close July 30th, so make sure you swing by the LSS to pick up your copy!

You can email Emma Earley - Careers (Publications) Officer if you have any questions or need any clarification.
