Social Justice Conference
Come along to the UTS LSS 2017 Social Justice Conference to engage in stimulating panel discussions and workshops themed Compassion and Complexity in the Legal Profession.
We will be running the following panels and workshops on the day:
Mental health and trauma in clients panel: 10:15am-11:15am
Working with Indigenous Communities: 11.30am-12.30pm
Personal wellbeing focus workshop 1pm – 1:45pm
Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Workshop 1:45 – 2:30

We welcome all students and lunch is provided and all are welcome to stay for afternoon tea at the end, which will wrap up the conference.

- UTS LSS World’s Greatest Shave – 10am-12pm Monday 18 April
The UTS Law Students’ Society is being brave and taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave on Monday 18 April from 10am-12pm! Whether you’re willing to shave, trim, wax, colour, spray or decorate your hair, come along and join the UTS LSS for a highly anticipated event and fun event! To show your support to UTS students that are being brave and doing the shave please donate in the link below to help us reach our goal of $5,000.00 and to help those who suffer every day form blood cancer. All proceeds of this event will be donated to the Leukaemia Foundation.
- Justice Action Charity Trivia Night – Thursday 31st August (6 to 8:30pm) – Spring Semester
Do you have a competitive streak that comes to life upon hearing the words “TRIVIA NIGHT”?
Then come and join the UTS LSS Justice Action Committee in the Spring UTS LSS Charity Trivia Night!
Sit back with friends and enjoy some pizza and answer questions that do not resemble a law exam.
When: Thursday 31st August
Where: UTS Underground
Time: 6.00pm to 8.30pm
Who: YOU! Open for everyone!
Students can compete in teams of up to 9 people, with the members of the winning team taking home a trophy, case of beer, and chocolate hamper!
You can email your teams (including team name and list of individuals) to email@example.com. The team to email in the best name before the night will receive 10 extra points as a head start!
All proceeds will be donated to a charity selected by the UTS LSS Justice Action Committee. Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement.

- UTS LSS Homelessness Clothes Drive – Monday 9th May (10am-12pm)
The UTS LSS welcomes you to the inaugural LSS Homelessness Clothes Drive!
The LSS invites you to participate in a fundraising BBQ and to listen to speakers who work with disadvantaged youth. The LSS will also be providing the opportunity for students to donate clothes to the organisation Taldumande Youth Services, which aims to assist the homeless community.
The Homelessness Clothes Drive Collection will begin on 2 May and last collection will occur 6 June.
YOU are invited to donate clothes that are too big/small, they do not want anymore, so last season. You are particularly encouraged to donated blankets and jackets as the LSS will be donating the clothes in the winter months.
There will be a collection basket on the day OR you can drop off your so last season clothes to the UTS LSS office from 2 May to 6 June.
The speakers for the event are individuals who work with disadvantaged young people who are displaced, homeless or facing adversity., including the following:
– Leanna Waldron, from Oasis Youth Services at the Salvation Army
– Virginia Howard, on the board of Taldumande Youth Services and previously the Mayor of Mosman.
